Houston – we have a problem!!!!
Posted in Family on May 29, 2008 by mrscownzHuntly Half Marathon
Posted in fun with tags fun, Half Marathon, Insanity on May 20, 2008 by mrscownzWell I did it….. As expected I wasn’t fast. I did it in 2 hrs 37min & 12 sec. I was 723rd out of 740 runners and 35th out of 36 women aged 40-44! And 21 walkers were faster than me!
I ended up walking some of it as I found it REALLY HARD from about 14 kms, but figure I only walked about 2k in total. When I am training my heart rate usually averages around 82% of its maximum – but on Sunday my average was 97%!!!!
There are photos here….. (my bib number was 76) they don’t do justice to my suffering!
Now we are thinking about doing the Taupo Half Marathon in August……..

Melissa’s Birthday..
Posted in Family on May 6, 2008 by mrscownzMiss D was invited to Melissa’s birthday party. It was at Extreme Edge in Hamilton and a wonderful time was had by all. Miss D was a tad tired as it was the afternoon of the first soccer game, however, she still managed to do a couple of climbs and did really well for her size. My camera wasn’t working, but Sandrine took some photos & has kindly passed them on…………………. And because I was on the other side of the camera for once, there is even one of me
And then when Dad turned up to take us home, Albie had a turn.
We are going to go back again when Dad’s foot is better & everyone can have a go.
Today’s progress
Posted in Family on May 6, 2008 by mrscownzThe new project is….
Posted in Family on May 5, 2008 by mrscownza trailer (not that the last project is finished) to lug around 5 pushbikes when we head to Rotorua.
This time both cars are in the driveway!!!!
First Soccer Game….
Posted in Family on May 3, 2008 by mrscownzof the season for Bart today. I missed it and have no photo’s, but dad said he played well. On the way home he told Bart “He was on fire” today. Even though they lost 10-1……………
And Miss D & Albie had their first game EVER!!!
They played in Ngaruawahia this morning. It was a really good game – close, with their team winning 4-3 thanks to an own goal by the other side
They were both in there giving it a go and having fun. 1 of their team didn’t show, 1 decided she wasn’t playing no matter what, and then another decided 3/4’s of the way through the game that she was too tired and wouldn’t go back on.. so these four
kids played a lot of the game…… And they did really well. The little girl who was too tired also played a great game when she was on. Looks like its going to be a good little team – and they have a really nice coach who is great with the kids.
And now we’re stocking up on….
Posted in Family on May 1, 2008 by mrscownzRemember the toilet paper….. Now Albie seems to have decided that the best way to not have to feed the cat morning & night is to stock up there as well………….
That is enough food for all the neighbour cats as well as ours…. wonder if the hedgehogs eat biscuits as well as cat food. We catch them in Nonames food fairly regularly….
And speaking of Noname… At 19 3/4 people years (about 95 cat years) dementia is setting in. She was heading across the road to visit the neighbours…. would forget what she was doing and stop in the middle of the road for a cat nap. This wouldn’t be soo much of an issue if she wasn’t also getting deaf and couldn’t hear the cars, and have reduced vision and not see them. So we have cat proofed the back yard. Because the highest thing she can now climb onto is Albie’s bed, this wasn’t too hard. Rob got mesh from The Ware.house and put it over both gates. However, the old girl thinks she is a pow who needs to escape and is attempting to tunnel out…..
I suspect it will take her a while to get the hole big enough, but we are going to have to watch her!
And here’s an update on hedgehogs – they seem to prefer soft food not the biscuits… Just went outside and found this:-
