Shopping with Nana

Posted in Albie, Cam, Family, Miss D on March 27, 2008 by mrscownz

Mum & Dad came for a quick visit on Sunday (brave considering they knew how much chocolate was probably going to be consumed!) The kids had just opened a “supermarket” that had been stashed in the roof space for a month or 20….. So Nana got to shop constantly for nearly her entire visit :-)

Shopping

The supermarket was meant for in the play house, but moved from outside to the lounge and is still there. They are enjoying shopping – obviously children after their mothers heart!!!

Rotorua Again

Posted in Biking, Cam, Family, Friends, fun on March 21, 2008 by mrscownz

Today Albie & Miss D went to Brian & Sheila’s & Rob, Cam & I headed to Rotorua again… This time with three mountain bikes in the car. And we had a wonderful time. Our friends Tim, Looby & Bodge are staying in Rotorua for a few days to mountain bike & go to the Chiefs vs. Bulls rugby game to Sunday night. We met up with them at the Waipa Mill Car Park & headed into the Redwood forest. We did 2 grade 2 rides – The Tahi and The Dipper (nearly 2 x) – Mum’s sort of rides. Unfortunately, I had to admit that Rob was right not completely wrong and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! Cam did really well, and led the charge when ever he could. And no-one fell off.

Didn’t take the camera in with us – but got a couple of shots in the carpark with the old kodak……

Its gone……………..

The tooth came out today at Kindy…..
Toothless
And it is literally gone. Mum has failed in some of her basic parenting apparently and Miss D was not aware of the tooth fairy – so said tooth was thrown in the rubbish bin :-(
She now knows better.
Do you think the tooth fairy will accept a photo?

Miss D’s First Wiggly Tooth

Posted in Kids, Miss D on March 18, 2008 by mrscownz

Miss D seemed to have a wiggly tooth on the weekend – her bottom teeth weren’t as beautifully straight as they usually are :-(

Tonight she appeared from her bed – grinning her head off, and with the tooth on the other side of the wiggly one from Saturday hanging by a thread. But it had obviously been encouraged – just a wee bit of blood…… So Mum took a photo (or 2) and sent her back with the advice that it would come out by itself when it was ready and not to make it hurt…..

School Visit

Posted in Albie, Kids, Miss D on March 18, 2008 by mrscownz

Albie & Miss D had their first school visit today. It is the only one they will get before they start – although they are allowed up to 3 if the timing allows. They will be in Room 2. They bought home their Jelly Bean Words, an alphabet card & 2 home readers.

So tonight at bed time, they read to me instead of the other way around :-)

Off Road…

Posted in Biking, Cam, Family, Kids, fun, holidays, summer on March 16, 2008 by mrscownz

Today we went to Rotorua to see Del finish the “Off Road Half-Marathon” in the Redwood Forest – I was supposed to be doing it with her, but piked after our holiday…… Cam & Rob used it as an opportunity to christen Cam’s new bike. (Rob bought him a new 24 inch one with 10 21 gears the day before the Weetbix Tryathlon, but today was the first day it truly went off road.)

Cam apparently did really well – worked out how to use the gears and realised that the new bike went over the bumps smoother than his old bike…… Dad was very impressed!!!!

Too Many Cooks…..

Are supposed to spoil the broth – but around here it just makes dinner appear faster. These guys have been fighting over who is doing what again – I never knew slicing the tomatoes could cause such a squabble!

More Paekak Photos

The herd kids had a wonderful time connecting with the Paekak kids…… You wouldn’t believe it was months since they had last met, and that even before that the visits had been infrequent…… You probably would believe the meltdowns when it was time to go home each night!!!! For more go & visit Hays Blog HERE…..
This photo was taken not long after we arrived – the 2 D’s bonded beautifully.
There were fights over who was going to push Little Miss…….
Can you hear them?
Little Miss & Miss D, waiting for a train – always fun with friends….
Three to a seat – not a problem!
Play station boys……
However, Cam was never afraid to ask the much more skilled girls for help,
or worried about using the pink gamer console (so long as he got to play!)

Paekakariki Holiday

Posted in Family, Friends, Kids, fun, holidays, summer on March 13, 2008 by mrscownz

We are home, after 5 too short days in Paekakariki - we could have easily stayed for longer, and the kids definitely didn’t want to leave this morning! We have enjoyed catching up with friends, experiencing new things, including Te Papa and Wellington’s wind, and doing some of the old things we enjoy, like the beach!!!!!

Our not very big plane…….

Introducing your host – Cameron (he also got to collect the rubbish – one clever hostess….)
Our home for 5 nights…..

Cam & Gilby – not quite sure who was walking who :-)
Kapiti Island at Sunset
On the train to Wellington – unfortunately we only got as far as Porirua on day one before we had to get off the train & board buses. One bus for one train didn’t add up and so we gave up and went home again…….
That afternoon the kids stayed with HippyHappyHay & Mr Music and bonded with their girls, while Rob & I ventured to the Southward Car Museum
Surf, Sand & Sun…..Even Mum got in – once!
